It’s very fitting that there was so much controversy around Atticus. The story is about growth and change and seeing things in different perspectives… and Atticus? Well, if you are up in arms about his character then you are missing the whole point of Go Set a Watchman. It also helps to understand that this story was the original, and that To Kill a Mockingbird is the rewrite.
Currently, my reading list has 252 items on it. That number, of course, fluctuates daily. Most of the time it’s being added to (a lot more often than I cross items off of it). Sometimes, I take titles off simply because I forget why I added them in the first place. Most of the titles I end up removing are books on business, productivity, self-improvement, etc.
I’m so far behind on it… there are books there that I really wanted to read when first released, but still have not gotten around to them.
I didn’t set a reading “goal” for 2016. I just want to get through as much of the list as possible. There is so much great work out there; so many great writers. Really, there’s just too little time.
Next up: to finish Book of Numbers, by Joshua Cohen (I’ve been “stuck” at the halfway mark for a few months).
